In a short bus trip, getting to Oroquieta City really can be half the fun. Regardless of which direction you are coming from, either from Dipolog or Ozamiz, your journey will be filled with the changing landscape of mountainous greenery and simultaneous passage alongside the shining seas and volcanic sand-colored shorelines of Misamis Occidental.

Once you arrive at Oroquieta City, you will notice an environmental difference. The cleaner routes and roadside scenes are much neater than any other towns throughout Misamis Occidental. These distinguishing factors are what earned Oroquieta this year's national title as "The Greenest and Cleanest Component City" in the Philippines. Through its community participation with strong leadership and commitment to improve, Oroquieta City deserves her highest credit not only from her neighbors, but also from visitors.

Although dry and dusty, the main highways are well paved with asphalts, and cements in some cities. The journey to Oroquieta is a total opposite of a journey on an interstate highway that is jammed with cars, sports utility vehicles, large buses and "eighteen-wheeler trucks." Its main means of transportation are buses, commercial jeepneys and manual/gasoline-powered tricycles. Although tricycles are of limited capacities, they can give you the flexibility to explore those local routes that are inaccessible to buses and jeepneys.
